Description
... within the CD booklet, all lyrics are given in Spanish and English, so let's do some quoting. The breathy pop of 'Luna' tells the story of that great orb with acoustic guitar, voice and vocal layers coming in at times. "You appear without regard / you assault me / you know that's what I want / without saying how long it will last / you decide - we are one.
But the Ballads - that's where Cristina scores her greatest successes. 'Noches en la Alhambra' is just sheer heaven with her vocal overdubs for soft effect, helped for a change by some slight rhythm in the chorus. Dips in ever so slightly you don't realize there's any beat there. "Resting columns / in the silence of a sepulchral warmth / Stories of poets, kings and lovers / you will envision / at la Alhambra".
Oh you will.
There's something about 'Mi Faraon' (which translates as 'My Pharaoh') that will remind you of 'My Funny Valentine', with Latin tint of course. So bewitching, it should soon be outlawed in the back seats of cars. "Dark eyes, olive skin / his smile, pure ivory / he takes walks at sunset / amidst the shadows of his thoughts / I'm dazed by his words / the way he walks fascinates me'.
A lover's album, without question.
Realistically, beautifully skilled, crafted and executed with major league precision.
