Description
Jason Reeves is an emerging singer/songwriter from Iowa City, Iowa. With the recent release of Makeshift Aircraft, his second studio album, he has been pushed quickly into the surrounding scene. Jason is being described as a mix between Jackson Browne, Nick Drake and John Mayer, and is a self-taught guitar player that hasn't ever taken a lesson. In the summer of 2002 Reeves toured Europe singing with in the Midwest Honor Choir, and also plays the piano, bass, drums, harmonica and mandolin.
"You feel a bit like you're a fly on the wall in Jason's room, hearing him work out the puzzle of the world with his guitar....The closest comparison is perhaps Nick Drake, but again, Reeves doesn't sound anything like him. What Reeves shares with Drake is an ability to glean a fresh melody and an open-hearted lyric from the well trampled fields of the folk-pop tradition...While I think everyone who can, should play music, most aren't doing the world a favor by recording a CD of their songs."
-Kent Williams, The Little Village
"The best we've had all year." --The Vine and Mondos downtown Iowa City
