Description
Of Japanese and Native American ascent, Janet Martin is a singer/songwriter of mainstream country/crossover radio ready hits. She has been proving this in Alaska by receiving regular airplay of her original material on KASH Country 107.5 FM. In addition, Janet has been featured on 101.3 KGOT, 100.5 KBFX, The AK Show on Alaska's Public Radio Network, KNBA, and 650 AM KENI. Janet has recently released her debut album, Stronger Than Love, which received great reviews in both The Anchorage Daily News and AK This Month.
Since arriving in Anchorage in 1996 Janet has gone from working as a medical assistant and aerobics instructor to a respected reporter/anchor, morning show co-host, on camera/voice over talent and accomplished singer/songwriter. Janet has opened shows for Montel Jordan, Reba McEntire, John Conlee, Brad Paisley, and legendary guitarist Bob Saxton. Extremely active in the community she has performed for the Alaska Aces Hockey Association, Anchorage's Saturday Market, La Mex Restaurant's 35 year celebration, Thursday Night Fights, Alaska State Fair, Ms. Alaska/Miss Teen USA, Young Women of Achievement Awards, AWAIC's Summer Solstice Festival, The Nashville Palace Talent Showcase at the Alaska Summer City Fair, and the Alaska Songwriter's Conference/Showcase.
Janet has been a finalist in Alaska's APRN Song of the Year Contest, won regionals in Cole Country, Missouri's Country Colgate Showdown, and was also a finalist in Ed McMahon's NextBigStar.com.
Obviously, Janet loves what she does. She is motivated by music, and driven by turning her dreams into realities. When you meet Janet, you'll more than likely find yourself smiling because of her good humor and genuine disposition, but listen to her sing and she'll take you on a soul stirring, emotion packed unforgettable ride. She's looking forward to heading back to Nashville in the fall and having the feedback from fellow writers as she performs her originals at several writer's nights.
