Description
Meet Specialist Louis Lamp. Fit and proud soldier in the US Army and an extraordinary musician and composer, who has just released his first album, An Open Mind. Soothing and uplifting at the same time, An Open Mind is a auditory sensory pleasure any time of day, any occasion.
Louis conducted his first orchestra at age 5 in Seattle, Washington. The
occasion was the "birthday" of a very old fishing boat and the orchestra was
a Navy ensemble brought in for the occasion. After a false start (the noise
startled young Louis at first), he recovered and the band played on.
He began playing violin at age 6, learning to play on a size instrument which was much to large for him, but he showed tenacity even at that early age and his lessons
went very well. So well, that by age 10 he was a veteran street performer, choosing the sidewalk in front of the Seattle Opera House as his stage. He was given recognition in their newsletter after a couple years of regular performance.
During this time, he also performed with Music Center of the Northwest
chamber groups featured on King FM 98.1.
When he was 17, he attended Wintergrass (a Tacoma bluegrass competition) and
jammed with several groups. He found a profound freedom in improv and from
that day, decided composition was what he wanted to do and that is exactly
what he did and does.
Which brings us to An Open Mind.
Described by Jef Peace of PeaceWork Music Net as:
". . . more soothing than a fine sipping whiskey, this
album is guaranteed to relax those tense muscles
and stimulate brain activity without nasty side-effects."
An Open Mind is destined to be an epic recording in the new age genre,
possibly even being the album that redefines the genre for coming
generations.
Possessing both the soul of the warrior and the soul of the musician, Louis
Lamp has breathed a fiery calm into these songs, almost in spite of himself.
Anything but restrained, there is still an obvious cadence to the melodies
that can be felt as well as heard, leaving the listener wanting more but not
sure they could handle even a note beyond what they've already heard. This
album both soothes and energizes the listener with a passion that has seldom
been heard in any genre, let alone new age.
It's in your hands now and now it's your turn to play a part in musical
history by giving this album the attention it deserves, encouraging Louis
Lamp to give more of his talent to the world in the form of more music, more
albums. Written by Jef Peace, of PeaceWork Music Net
