Description
The distinct mellifluous sound flowing out of the Kansas City music scene these days belongs to Red Guitar, a driving acoustic-based rock band formed in late 2002. Rising out of the ashes of several other local bands, Red Guitar is putting hard rocking harmonies back into rock and roll. Based around the two distinct but complementary singer-songwriters Nick Nave and John McKenna, Red Guitar provides double-barreled satisfaction.
Nave's compositions provide the smooth drive that permeates the sound, while Mckenna's more rustic numbers lend to the edge. Lyrics brimming with the yearning of early Springsteen, the passion of Neil Young, and the searching of the post-modern poets, Red Guitar is a musical and cognitive treat for those who care. Rounding out the lineup include the late 60's inspired sounds of electric guitar specialist Tim Suttle, and the adaptable rhythm section of drummer David Borberg and bassist Nate Jackson(who incidentally grew up on a mushroom farm).
