Description
LEAN MEAN TEXAS MACHINE is the debut cd by DAVID BRAKE and THAT DAMN BAND. Backed by some of the finest musicians in the region, this singer/songwriter's songs are a unique combination of Americana country, rock, and blues, with a hint of post-punk. One reviewer described it as "Americana meets The Beatles White Album."
The CD takes you down a trail of surprising twists and turns, and expresses a range of musical styles and emotion that must be heard to describe. David Brake often says "It's all about the song," and whether the instrumentation is a full rock band at warp speed with slide guitar and fiddle weaving in and out of lush three part harmonies--or just solo voice and piano, he and That Damn Band seem to stay true to that statement.
Call it a rock band with a fiddle, or Texas y'alternative. David Brake says, "I like that it can't be categorized. It's something new."
