Description
Chicago radio's WXRT named "Thanksgiving 1969" top 5 of 2004!
Have you ever needed to just get a few things off your chest? Apparently, that's how Chicago's alt-country rocker Thomas Pace was feeling this past winter. On his new EP "if you want to be heard, Speak Up!" Pace raises his voice about being frustrated with America's current political landscape. "It seems like everyone I know has the same kinds of concerns about the direction in which American is being lead," says Pace, "I wrote these songs with those concerns on my mind."
While Pace's solo-debut, "Walking Distance," sports full band arrangments that are sometimes more rock than they are folk or country, "if your want to be hear, Speak Up!" was created in the image of the protest songs that came out of the 60's. He picks the pocket of Bob Dylan while creating music that sounds like it's being broadcast from thirty-five years ago.
While his message is loud and clear, the music never becomes preachy. Instead, Pace works subtly, between the lines within the storyline, sending messages that elude even the careful listener until the tenth listen.
