Description
Ralph Press was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1951 and began playing the piano at the age of five. He took classical piano lessons for 5 year from Mr. James di Martini of The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music followed by two years with Mr. Adam Garner of The First Piano Quartet. After this initial phase of formal training Mr. Press pursued the path of independent musical study. He is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and The State University of New York at Stony Brook. Mr. Press is an acknowledged computer expert and is the President of The Digital Entertainment Network at www.tden.com.
Classical Interlude is a testament to modern digital technology. The Classical pieces on this recording are some of the most popular music ever written. Each track on this CD was played on a Casio CTK-671 Electronic Keyboard or a Yamaha DGX-500 Digital Piano and digitally recorded in real time. The sounds produced by these instruments are highly realistic and virtually indistingushable from the actual instrument being emulated. I have attempted to choose an appropriate instrument voicing for each selection and hopefully succeeded. Following is the instrumentation selected for each track:
1) JS Bach - Little Prelude in C - Organ/Choir
2) JS Bach - Minuet 1 in G - Organ/Harpsichord
3) JS Bach - Minuet 3/Polonaise 4 - Brass/Jazz Guitar
4) Purcell - Minuet and Air - Jazz Guitar/Choir
5) Schumann - Soldiers March - Strings
6) Schumann - The Wild Horseman - Strings
7) Miaskovsky - Classical Fugue - Strings
8) Beethoven - Sonatina in G - Piano
9) Clementi - Sonatina in C - Piano
10) Kabalevsky - Scherzo - Piano
11) CPE Bach - Solfegietto - Sawtooth Synth
12) Gurlitt - Little Suite:
Morning Song - Strings/Choir/Piano
March - Brass
Scherzo - Strings
