Description
Singer/Songwriter, Chris Van Cott picked up his first guitar at the age of 6 and has been hooked ever since. At 13, he won middle school Composer of the Year for completing a full-length album entitled, "Premier Collection." He then went on to graduate from Five Towns College of Music and Audio Engineering in Long Island, NY.
In 1998, he formed Other Natural Flavors, also known by their fans as, ONF. As the lead singer and guitarist, he explored the world of alternative pop music by blending sweet vocal harmonies with an edgy rock sound. Chris' zeal for adventure led him to the West Coast to record ONF's debut album, "Drop the World." It received extensive college radio airplay and a licensing deal with MTV networks. However, it was the band's live shows, lead by the energetic singer, which won over many critics in New York and San Diego alike.
Chris Van Cott's experiences have helped him develop as a storyteller. His first solo effort, "Little Puppy," is a collection of acoustic tunes that combine styles & tales from both coasts. His influences include Steve Poltz, Jason Mraz, & Dave Matthews to name a few. Now back in New York, he has created a buzz for his emotional and expressive live performances. Recently, UMO Music selected Chris as one of "The 14 Best Singer/Songwriters of Greenwich Village". The compilation CD featuring all the artists is available at www.cdbaby.com.
Be sure to catch him at a coffee house near you.
