Description
"One of the strongest indie releases of 2004" -All Music Guide
"Nadine Goellner's soul-injected voice and jazzy arrangements color her new album, Sing It to Me Anyway, but underneath it all she's got a little of that edgy, grrrl-singer-songwriter thing going on." -TimeOut New York
In June 2004, NYC singer-songwriter Nadine Goellner celebrates the release of her much anticipated second full-length album, Sing It To Me Anyway. The album features 12 new songs penned and produced by Nadine, as well an incredible cast of musicians, including drummers Lance Carter (Cassandra Wilson) and Allison Miller (Natalie Merchant); bassist Bob Hart (Spiraling); and guitarists JP Doherty and Natalia Zukerman, in addition to special guests. The album also notably features Ralph Farris, Todd Reynolds, and Mary Rowell of NYC string quartet Ethel and renowned cellist Erik Friedlander on the powerhouse title track. "To me, the song Sing It to Me Anyway is epic, and really speaks to the collaborative spirit that drives this record. I think it's in the layers of the title track that you find the heart and soul that went into the whole album," says Nadine.
Sing It to Me Anyway was recorded with engineer Greg Di Gesu (Elliott Smith, Lenny Kravitz) at LoHo Studios in NYC. The album is engagingly diverse; Nadine delivers a cohesive blend of styles ranging from deep-groove soul to emotionally evocative pop balladry, with additional touches of blues, folk, and country. Bringing all of the songs on the album together is her signature warm, intimate and soulful jazz pop style that fits her like a velvet glove.
