Description
Based in Chicago, IL, the members of Driftless Pony Club have been gracing the Midwest with their brand of melody driven, rhythm shifting indie rock for more than 4 years. Their energetic live performances have even packed in crowds of over 150.
After the release of their well received LP, Janel, in January 2004, they became the most played band on Madison, WI's college radio station, WSUM, for many weeks. Janel has also received many positive reviews from websites, papers, and magazines, including Chicago's Punk Planet. In fact, Janel has yet to receive a negative review.
Driftless Pony Club holds its own among many influences, including Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Archers of Loaf, and Superchunk. Their music could be described as energetic but not hyperactive, calculated but not cold, and catchy but not annoying. It's this knack for crafting well-rounded, entertaining songs that landed Driftless Pony Club opening spots for national touring acts such as Mates of State, The Frames, Euphone, Tim Kinsella, Kid Dakota, and the Epoxies.
Fresh out of Madison, WI, Driftless Pony Club is currently booking Chicago clubs and writing new songs for a second LP. They are also maintaining a Madison record label which was co-founded with other local Madison bands called Sector Five Records. Driftless Pony Club usually averages 3-5 shows a month when not on tour, so look for the name in the club calendars.
