Description
S. Kwaku Daddy is an internationally known Master Drummer educator and a folklorist who introduces traditional culture, music, dance and stories of Ghana, as well as other African cultures to children and teachers of America. Kwaku was born and raised in Ghana. He is a dynamic performer and a spellbinding folklorist. He brings history alive through the customs and ritual tradition reflected in the vibrant sounds and rhythms of the African surroundings.
A celebrated performer, artist and teacher, Daddy has recorded,
performed and co-headlined with Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Randy Weston, Santana, John Handy, Quincy Jones, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Third World, The Paul Winter Consort and has conducted several music educational workshops with the
legendary rhythm and blues man, Mr. Johnny Otis.
His African Concerto has been performed by numerous symphonies.
He has released seven albums and Life's Rhythms, an interpretation of man's quest for love, peace, power, harmony and understanding is his eighth CD. He is currently teaching in the Music Department at City College of San Francisco. His text book, " THE Folklore of Ghana " is also available in stores.
