Turku's high energy performance of traditional folk songs of the nomadic tribes of Central Asia's exotic Silk Road, from the Mediteranean to Afghanistan.
About the Artist
Formed in 1996 Turku performs traditional folk music on traditional instruments from the Eurasian subcontinent, including the cultures of Turkey, Persia, Kurdistan, Azerbaijian, and Uzbekistan. Turku has performed from San Francisco to New York City to Samarkand in Central Asia. Turku's first album "Alleys of Istanbul" was released in 1998. In 1999 they released the live concert video "TURKU-Alive 1999." "Nomads of the Silk Road" sets a new standard for the group with even better performances and productions.
