CICLOS (CYCLES) is the new album by Gandhi. It's music and lyrics talk about life cycles and the slight line between illusion and reality present in humans' lives.

The album was released in september 2004 and contains 11 tracks: Ciclos (Cycles), Sr. Caballero (Mr. Gentleman), Celeste, Sombras (Shadows), Puente (Bridge), Vaco (Empty), Despierta (Awake), Una Ilusin (An Illusion), 40, Aire (Air), and El Sol y la Flor (The Sun and the Flower). It was produced by Mexican musician Sabo Romo, former member of legend rock band Caifanes, and producer of Gandhi's rendition of 'El septimo dia' in the Soda Stereo tribute by BMG.

Gandhi's sound is mystical and melodic and their style is what they defined as 'eclectic rock in Spanish'. In this album 'CICLOS', the band sound their best and have put together a collection of soulful compositions which show their maturity and experience as a band for over 10 years of playing and recording.

Gandhi and producer Sabo Romo worked together with over 30 songs, all composed by Gandhi members. They picked out the musical pieces that make what Sabo called 'a pure rock album', like he had done with Jaguares 'Bajo el azul de tu misterio' a few years ago, which was nominated for two Latin Grammys.

The lineup included Luis (lead singer) on piano and keyboards besides the usual rock quartet. Abel (bass) recorded live and a special recording technique was used in which the bass amplifier is located behind the drummer, and so the microphones pickup the bass and make it more compressed and well defined. Federico (guitars) used several vintage guitars and amplifiers, including some tube amplifiers from the 60s and a few classic acoustic and electric guitars. Massimo (drums) recorded using a hybrid set composed from different drum sets with classic 70s sound, and also played a few acoustic guitars. Sabo Romo was also guest musician in vocals, acoustic guitars, and his main instrument the bass.

This music was written at a time of many changes in the world, and in the group members' personal lives, which came as inspiration for this eclectic and mystic album. 'CICLOS', or Cycles, is the kind of album that can go around in cycles in your cd player for days and you can discover new sounds, textures and feelings each time a new cycle begins.

CICLOS es el nuevo disco de Gandhi. Su msica y letras tratan sobre los ciclos de la vida y el juego entre realidad e ilusin que vive el ser humano.

El disco fue lanzado en setiembre del 2004 y contiene 11 temas: Ciclos, Sr. Caballero, Celeste, Sombras, Puente, Vaco, Despierta, Una Ilusin, 40, Aire, y El Sol y la Flor. Fue producido por el mexicano Sabo Romo, grabado y mezclado por Alberto Ortiz en Costa Rica y masterizado por Rodolfo Vsquez en Mxico.

"Con la luz desaparecemos, jugando un juego que desconocemos... el mundo es un delirio de espacio y del tiempo." -Sombras.

Gandhi tiene ahora un sonido mstico y meldico y un estilo ms definido que el grupo ha llamado 'rock eclctico en espaol', el cual rene lo mejor de sus influencias alejndose del metal, el reggae y el latino. En el disco CICLOS el grupo ha plasmado la magia e inocencia de sus inicios junto con la madurez y el crecimiento artstico de aos de carrera.

Para la produccin de CICLOS se contaba con 30 composiciones de las cuales se seleccionaron las mejores. Sabo y Gandhi trabajaron juntos durante varios das antes de entrar al estudio de grabacin a realizar lo que Sabo llam 'un disco de puro rock', como haba hecho con el 'Bajo el Azul de tu Misterio' de Jaguares, del cual fue msico y co-productor y fue nominado a dos premios Latin Grammy. Es primera vez que un grupo costarricense graba un disco con un productor reconocido internacionalmente, sin embargo Sabo Romo conoce a Gandhi desde el 2001, cuando fue productor de un tema para el disco Tributo a Soda Stereo.

Los 11 temas del disco son completamente nuevos y fueron escritos por los cuatro integrantes de Gandhi. Se incorpor ms el uso de piano y teclados, los cuales fueron interpretados por Luis, cantante del grupo. Abel grab en vivo junto con el grupo utilizando una tcnica original de Sabo Romo, la cual le da al sonido del bajo una mayor definicin y profundidad. Federico utiliz ms variedad de equipo que en discos anteriores, incluyendo amplificadores de tubos de finales de los 60s y algunas guitarras 'vintage' acsticas y elctricas. Massimo grab con un set hbrido compuesto por diferentes bateras con sonido clsico de los 70s, y toc varias guitarras acsticas. Sabo Romo adems particip con algunos coros, guitarras acsticas, y toc el bajo en uno de los temas del disco.

El material fue escrito en una poca de muchos cambios para los miembros del grupo, lo que sirvi de inspiracin para crear msica llena de sentimiento. "Este es nuestro disco favorito", afirman los miembros del grupo. No cabe duda de que CICLOS es hasta ahora el mejor trabajo de Gandhi.
