THE MAKING OF AMMATUSK
2 parts guitarist, 1 part bassist, 1 part drummer. mix well.
ammatusk came together as a band a few years after guitarist jason phillips and bassist scott smith met in 1997. for two years they talked about forming a band, but didn't take much action to get it done. then in 1999, scott met drummer spike ruland. as it turned out, spike was looking to get back into music after a self-imposed hiatus of a few years. the three began working on developing songs that scott had previous written, as well as writing as a trio. although the studio experience worked out well as a trio, the guys realized the potential the music would have with the addition of a second guitarist. jason asked his friend dave bishop to join the band in 2003. the band completed the recording of the long-promised, oft-delayed debut cd, "welcome to the learning curve" in the fall of 2004.
