Description

Ason (A son of God) is a new generation gospel artist fusing original hip-hop tracks with the power of God's word. Hailing from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, the preacher-turned-rapper is using music to attract young souls to the body of Christ. In speaking of his new music ministry, Ason says, "Many times God takes what man is doing and uses it as an opportunity to communicate His word. This is what God is doing through hip-hop. It's becoming an international language, and God is using that language."

Ason is a gifted, anointed performer who regularly ushers crowds into praise and worship with potent lyrics that are easy to understand and an agility with word play that places him with the best in the industry. In just over one year as a hip-hop artist, he has ministered everywhere from churches, to college campuses, area night clubs, and local schools. He has already shared the stage with Mary Mary, Tonex, Cross Movement, and 4th Avenue Jones.

Currently, Ason is in the studio working on his sophmore album. This record will be an energetic mixture of East Coast street flavor with contemporary gospel influences. It will feature some of the top producers in the gospel and secular industries and is scheduled to be released Spring of 2005.

Long-Term, Ason plans on widening the bridge between the world and the church by communicating God's mercy and love in the modern "language" of hip-hop. His album will be a foundation for this goal. Through his music and record label "Toe 2 Toe Records," Ason intends to make the word of God more accessible to the youth of today using the unique culture that is all their own. His message is one of urgency and relevance that is designed to reach the God-fearing as well as the "unreachable" and un-churched. "I'm calling out to young leaders," says Ason, "It takes a leader to stand for God these days and we need the influence of anointed leadership to bring change to our troubled communities."

Ason and his music represent a new wave of talent in the body of Christ. As both an artist and a preacher, he encourages all ministers of the Gospel to focus on the message and not the method. "Young people need more than a sermon," he says "they need something they can vibe with. If they feel they can relate to it, then you got 'em."
