Welcome to Danny Brooks' Soulsville! - Toronto based singer/songwriter, Danny Brooks is at his best when he adds large doses of the Blues and Gospel to his songs. Like the autobiographical 'Still Standing Tall' or his new release for HIS House Records, 'Souled Out 'N Sanctified'. His songwriting and performing career has spanned three decades and has taken him across Canada and the USA. Jim Dickinson, legendary Memphis producer states, "Danny's voice tells you he's been through the pain of experience and the promise of hope. His songs say it all." Danny's performance on the Juno nominated 'SAVED' with originals 'Still Standing Tall' and 'Righteous Highway' are 'SOUL' inspired songs. 'Since childhood, I've loved Blues n' Gospel music, it soothes the soul, uplifts the spirit.' states Danny.


'No wonder, since Gospel literally means GOOD NEWS!', he exclaims. 'I discovered that all the great R&B and Soul Singers that I admired, those like Solomon Burke, Joe Tex, Bobby Blue Bland, were influenced by such Gospel Greats as The Soul Stirrers, 5 Blind Boys, Mighty Clouds, and Rev. Jumpin' Jim Jericho.' Danny once had the privilege to perform with Brownie McGhee, who told him 'son fo' a white boy, you sho' nuff gotta suntan on the inside'. The distinctive Danny Brooks' sound embodies a hybrid blend of original music based in the roots of Blues, Country and Gospel.
