Description
Fishkill is the band in the crowded smoky bar on a friday night when everyone's on the dance floor. It is the one person representing the minority opinion who's willing to address the council, the school board, Congress, or whatever other legislative body concerned. It is what painting would look like using sounds instead of colors. It is loud, hard, heavy-sounding with a high-energy delivery. It is sound being delivered as bombs. It is unfettered by overproduction, free to travel the vast realm of possibilities. It makes you think while it makes you feel good. It alienates you while drawing you closer. It is an open letter to the public. It is the point at which punk rock crosses classic rock and in that union, becomes something new. It is alternative. It is hard. It is rock...
Fishkill plays hard rock with an alternative style, featuring energetic songs that are fun to listen to and may make you think if you listen carefully. It's heavy guitar-based rock, although it has been classified as punk and 80's new wave rock. Singer/Songwriter Chris Nelson's vocal style has been compared to Joey Ramone (The Ramones), Mike Love (The Beach Boys), and Ray Davies (The Kinks). In actuality Fishkill strives to define its own category within the musical framework of rock. The basic goal is to give the listener a good time, like a band playing at this great party or concert you were you'll never forget. It's all about fun, pure and simple and everything else is window dressing.
Based in Spokane, Washington, this is the effort of a single person, Chris Nelson, who writes, records, and produces the songs. There are currently 2 CDs available through mp3.com with a third one currently in production. Fishkill has been reviewed in several publications and just recently did an interview for Artist First Network as a featured artist.
