Description
Friction Bailey's founding members, Steve and Joy Guiles, live in San Dimas, California (30 miles east of Los Angeles). Their music has been compared to 10,000 Maniacs, Innocence Mission, Over the Rhine, and Sixpence None The Richer. Their newest release began as a Christmas E.P. in the summer/winter of 2002 featuring beautiful acoustic versions of traditional and sacred Christmas songs and grew into 2004's full-length release, The Silent Night.
Steve recorded the majority of the instruments (bass, guitars, dulcimer, casio keyboard, piano, harmonicas, and percussion) in his own John Cash Studios.
Steve is also the lead singer for alt/rock/pop band, Pushstart Wagon (www.pushstartwagon.com)and guitarist for The Vegas Nerve(www.vegasnerve.com).
reviews of Friction Bailey's first full-length, Tengo Yellow Pedal:
"The male/female vocal interplay is engaging... they verge on the transcendent." "Steve Guiles' skills as a player, writer and arranger have never been more evident..." "A simple and unpretentious record, Tengo Yellow Pedal is the type of album that grows more engaging with repeated listens. A solid debut." - Todd Brown, True Tunes magazine (www.truetunes.com)
