Description
Though her strongest influences may come from the traditional country sounds of Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, and Patsy Cline, Lisa Dames also has a passion for the blues and rock and roll. The result is a truly memorable blend, and whether she is performing her own material or reinterpreting the classics, Lisa knows precisely how to use her magnificent stage presence to capture the attention and imagination of an audience.
A singer and actress by trade, Lisa resides in Greensboro, North Carolina with her husband and two daughters. As the highlight of a stage career that has brought her all across the United States, Lisa was honored to be one of the select few sanctioned in May of 2000 by the Patsy Cline Estate, in conjunction with Mid-America Productions, to portray Patsy in the bio-musical, "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline." Lisa's performance earned her the chance to further portray the country music legend in other bio-musicals such as "Always...Patsy Cline," and this string of tributes continued with the acclaimed album, The Music of Patsy Cline.
Lisa and her band, Fringe Benefits, have performed all around the Carolinas and are rapidly expanding their fan base beyond that region. Lisa has also performed with The Rob Massengale Band, Sophisticated Blues, Even Keel, and Black and Blue. While recently in Michigan, she sang on a weekly basis with Crossroads Blues Band. Lisa has since recorded a song with Crossroads Blues backing her up, and she will be contributing supporting vocals to their next album. When she is not performing, Lisa can probably be found giving back to the community of which she is a part. Over the years, she has donated her time and talent to charitable causes such as The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Society, and the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure.
Lisa's abilities have been acknowledged by a long list of music greats that includes Dixie Chicks producer Lloyd Maines, and Mitchell Leib, executive vice president and general manager of soundtracks for Disney. But more importantly, her abilities have mesmerized audiences wherever she has gone. She is smart and seductive, talented and tenacious, appealing and authentic. Go ahead, give her a listen, and just try to resist.
