Description
I was born in Kentucky and ever since I can remember I have listened to country music. When I was 7 years old Santa brought me my first guitar. That is where my humble beginnings started.
My father was in the Army. So, when I was about 12 years old we left Fort Knox, KY and went to Germany. Of course my guitar went too. I joined a band with a few other junior high kids. That is when I started getting into Rock n' Roll. My influences at the time were Clapton, Hendrix, BB King, the Stones...
We returned to the states in the late 60's. A few years later I joined a country band, and started playing all the local clubs. Then I entered a guitar picking contest for WAMZ radio in Louisville. There were over a hundred guitar players entered and I won first place.
Then I started receiving calls to open concerts for major country artists such as Ricky Van Shelton, Billy Joel Royal, Exile, T. Graham Brown, and others.
I have also toured the east coast and southern states with a band called "Desert Wind". W e were also invited to play at the Govenor's "Derby Breakfast" in Kentucky, two years running.
A few years ago I was with another band called the "Installers". We opened for Pat Travers in North Carolina twice. Then went on to record an original CD in Memphis at the Rocking Horse Studio, which was backed by Ted Mellencamp. At the same time we played at the Blues Festival on Beale Street. That was a night to remember.
It was somewhere after all this that God called me to play His music. And that's where I am today. I am finally enjoying life as He wants me to. I miss playing live, but I'm happier now playing music for the Lord!
My "Lord Of The Strings" project is currently being played on Superstation WJCR 90.1 FM in Kentucky which also broadcasts to over 150 nations on shortwave. This project is dedicated to Jesus Christ. Because I know He was with me in the studio.
