Description
Mike Schmid is a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter. His music incorporates electronica, pop, a cappella, string quartet, rock, 80's electro and trip-hop influences into his own brand of 21st century art-songs. Recording artist Grayson Hugh commented, "The originality of his songs, both musically and lyrically, was a pleasure to hear. I can hear his songs in films. And if radio gets more intelligent, there, too."
Mike was trained classically on the piano from age 6. He has won numerous state and national awards for performance and writing, and has a degree in songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
His self-titled debut album was released in 2001.
In 2003, he performed with Canadian singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, and laid down tracks for the album "Borrowed Heaven" by The Corrs.
Disney chose to use his songs in three episodes of the upcoming Felicity Season Four DVD set. His songs "Mirror," "I Won't Sleep Tonight" and "Wave Goodbye" are currently playing in over 900 Regal Cinemas throughout the US.
Mike is currently recording and playing with several Los Angeles area artists, including Rich Jacques, Renee Stahl, Gayle Day and Connie Kim.
His upcoming album, "The High Cost of Living," will be released in November 2005.
