Cinematic Volunteer:
Tom Vedvik and Martin Tillmans latest effort together, Cinematic Volunteer plays like an imaginary soundtrack. It has the duo's trademark sound but this one is more eclectic and perhaps more diverse. From groove oriented ethno- ambience to a classical chamber feel.
Vedvik's main musical partner and collaborator for the last few years is Martin Tillman, a world-renowned Swiss born cellist. Tillman's acoustic and electric cellos can be heard on many of Vedvik's recordings, including Slowdiver and Sutra Spin. They have now composed and recorded three albums together, Lingo, Eastern Twin and Cinematic Volunteer. All albums produced by Vedvik.
Vedvik and Tillman recently wrote some cues for the Michael Mann film "Ali" which featured two songs from Eastern Twin. Their track Odessa can also be heard on the soundtrack album. Tillman's cello is featured extensively on the score of Black Hawk Down ,Hannibal, The Pledge and MI2, all films on which he also co-wrote some of the music. Vedvik is composing music for a TV series in his native Norway as well as working on the music of a new documentary for Merci Entertainment in New York.
