A highly-skilled producer down with the wax musim collective, DJ Allstar's instrumentals are incredibly original and diverse. Jazz, Trip-Hop, and straightforward rap beats are complimented with obese basslines, futuristic keyboards and razor-sharp cutting. Consistently bangin' and impressive.

"...this is get-you-movin music of the highest caliber."

we says:
After a series of successful pause mix tapes*, DJ allstar was given his first taste of scratching over a decade ago when his brother bought a home turntable and cassette deck with his paper route money. The neighborhood boys would spend time at the house having "scratch contests," with just the cassette deck's record volume as the crossfader."DJ Jazzy Rock" (as he was christened back then) would naturally be the one to reign, as the equipment was in his house. More equipment purchases were then in order, and allstar practiced his mixing and scratching skills along with his big brother, and subsequently made a decent supplemental income in high school by selling mixtapes and spinning at parties.
Allstar got his name from friends, who noticed his incessant purchasing of Converse Chuck Taylor shoes ("I sported red leather, the black, pink and gray "foldovers," blue glitter, even stonewashed the black chucks for profit..."). The supernatural happened a few years later (he became a born-again follower of Jesus Christ in 1989), and shortly after the parties stopped, and a few years later the spinning stopped. It was not a permanent retirement, however. He had some residual equipment and hooked up with some crews in his hometown (fun fact--he did some very early recordings with Flynn of LA Symphony before he migrated west to take over). He moved out of his home town on his own, and was enabled to acquire some of the basics of beat making and cutting, as well as a few acquaintances in the "faiths" (Christianity and turntablism). more equipment was acquired, and more beats emanated from allstar's lab. what we have here is a selection from the hundreds of beats and songs sitting on the disks of one of the dj's of the wax musim.
