Description
Detroit's own BUMP present their first official release: BUMP LIVE!
When the members of Bump began playing together in the summer of 2001 in East Lansing, it was a relatively relaxed atmosphere with loose improvisations and fun covers. Whether it was an open mike jam at a local bar, or a loosely organized gig, one thing was apparent: there was an unmistakable energy that plowed through the audience and instantly grabbed their attention.
In the last two years they have made move to Detroit in addition to fine tuning their sound while constantly letting it evolve. After only 6 months of existence Bump entered and won a battle of the bands that was put on by Specs Howard School of Broadcasting. In the spring of 2003 Bump helped organize and participated in the successful Big Bamboo Festival that featured Bump and two other talented acts from Michigan (The Flow and Grasshoppah). Bump has also taken their music all over the mid-west, and has supported some great acts including Guest, Fareed Haque, Ekoostik Hookah, Mofro, and Knee Deep Shag.
What gravitates people to Bump is the actual lineup. Yorg Kerasiotis, a charismatic and soulful front man who has the energy of James Brown, the soul of Aretha, and the straight-up rock vocals and stage presence of a mid-70's Rod Stewart or Mick Jagger. On the other hand, you have four musicians who provide Yorg a medium to work with as well as creating a very diverse range of soundscapes themselves. Ranging from a retro rock vibe to reggae to jazz tinged grooves to improvisations that tie it all in. Pat Blizinski (all keys), Clint Carpenter (drums/percussion), Eric Novak (bass), and Chris Sterr (guitar) have made themselves into a rock solid musical unit with a constant shot of adrenaline that seems to have become their signature characteristic.
