Love & Honor
DaddyRoots
Roots Reggae at its best - great vocal ranges - lots of bob marley influence with a big dose of peter tosh's militant style as well - gives you goose bumps - never boring throughout whole album.

Description
Wayne Alex Brooks, a.k.a. Daddy "Roots," cited Rasta in the womb and was born on April 23, 1977 in North Valley, Anguilla, Brtitish West Indies. The youngest of fifteen children in his family, Roots was unlike any of his brothers and sisters by adhering to a strict diet of 'ital' pure and natural foods as a youth growing up in this Caribbean nation of 12,000 inhabitants. Roots left school at an early age because he wasn't learning much from it. His best education in life came from the day-to day living in the streets of Anguilla. Roots elaborates: "Nothing comes to you on a platter unless you have a certain position in society. If you are the underdog, you don't get anything and have to fight for everything."
Greatly influenced by his mother who instilled strict moral and family values, Roots steered clear of badness and embraced a path of righteousness. At the tender age of seven he became interested in music when his mother sent him to piano school. However, his youthful innocence was lost when he was forced to go to work at nine after the untimely death of his father. Cutting steel at a construction site was no easy feat for a teenager growing up and Roots eventually pushed on to securing a respectable job in the agricultural department.
Encouraged by Anguilla's Jah Movers Band drummer Venus, Roots started to play drums and writing songs to the delight of those who witnessed this bright new star in action. People began to take notice of Roots' ability and he was asked to appear at Anguilla's biggest international festival---Moonsplash. Performing live with the likes of Freddie McGregor, and opening for Tony Rebel, Third World and many other Reggae legends, Roots has earned much respect throughout the Caribbean for his strong vocal range and stage presence.
Most recently Roots was invited to travel to the birthplace of Reggae in Kingston, Jamaica to record his first album. Hailing the late, great and sometimes militant Peter Tosh as a major influence Roots believes that he can
carry on with the fallen Reggae icon's message of peace and equality for all of humanity.
Roots' religion is love and his reaction to anger and hatred is to walk away with love in the heart and a smile on the face. Roots believes that around the corner of depression lies hope and his songs titles including "Love And Honor," "I Am At Peace With Myself," "Walk Away From War," and "Moving On" express his philosophy of peace and harmony for everyone. His current works include "Better Must Come" and "All Here Now" both in tributes to the Native Americans and Martin Luther King...and also representing equality and justice for all humanity who had suffered under the wraths of Babylon.
This June, 2002, Roots embarked on his first North American "Love & Honor" Tour spreading his message of love, honor and respect from Texas to Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arkansas. The DJs and audience loved him when they saw him performed live and Roots was invited back by promoters again to tour the clubs circuit for August and October as well as for some festivals (Kneadmore Reggae Festival with Toots and The Maytals)Bloomington; and invitations to perform for Universities from Albuquerque to Wisconsin for Spring 2003.
For his second "Love and Honor" encore tour in August, DaddyRoots conquered new grounds in Indian country - New Mexico and Durango, Colorado where it rained everytime DaddyRoots sings "Better Must Come" (for the Native Man). Asia, Europe and Hawaii has also extended their red, green and gold carpet for DaddyRoots to perform in their countries...all within the next few months and into year 2003.
