Description
Big things do indeed come in small packages and Freda Rente' has the voice to prove it. Freda's talents have been strengthened over the years as a result of performing and collaborating with other bands. After a featured vocal spot on the "fIREHOSE" Columbia Records album "Mr. Machinery Operator;" "The ZARKONS" Atlantic Records album, "Between The Idea and Reality Falls The Shadow;" and recording with a number of others, Freda has decided to go solo.
In the early 80's, Freda formed the band "VICIOUS ATTACK," played the rock scene, and decided that "no groove was old news". Two years later, Freda wrote new songs with a new sound. She called it "LIPSTICK" and took the guitar player of the "RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS" Hillel Slovack into the studio to seal the pact between the sound and herself. Freda's sound has matured into a tapestry of driving rock melodies pushed farther towards the edge by funk-inspired bass lines. Complete with powerful vocals, the music is full, entertaining and incredibly captivating.
Freda's broad style of singing and writing enables her to work successfully within the realms of punk, funk, rock, classical and pop. Her skill on the keyboard, guitar, and bass add to her accomplishments. Most importantly, Freda's songs are original. Her lyrics are motivated by the time and space that she occupies and by the madness of melody. They are the visions within and without, alluring enough to draw her audience into her perspectives and their own. Find out more about Freda at www.concreteanthill.com
