Description
Born in York, PA and graduated from West Chester U. near Philadelphia where he won the DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE scholarship to Berklee School of Music in his senior year, Keith Scott, a full time musician of 25 years in night clubs and concert stages has performed with other Jazz greats including Phil Woods and Michael Brecker in the earlier years, and in concert with Jazz and studio legends Slyde Hyde and Gabe Baltazar recently. During the interim years Scott performed with Rock, Top 40, Country, Jazz and show bands in Philadelphia, the Catskill and Pocono mountains, the Jersey Shore, Toronto, Nashville, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Ft. Meyers, Naples, Daytona Beach, Key West, St Thomas(Virgin Islands),and for the past 3 years in Hawaii at Da Smoke House and the Ala Moana Hotel on Oahu.
"This superb instrumental album is driven by strong, memorable melodies and Scott's uncanny ablilty to crossover seamlessly from traditional to smooth to fusion with finely controlled virtuosity," says Marvin Franklin (D.J. at K 108 Radio in Honolulu).
Nov. 7, 2004, Scott just signed a contract to tour Japan with Hawaii Guitarist Henry Allen. Henry is releasing an album with George Benson just about the time the tour begins on March 21, 2005. The tour is for 2 weeks and will consist of a jazz quartet. Another Japan tour is scheduled for October, 2005.
Wayne Harada, music critic for the Honolulu Advertiser says "Keith's interpretation of Santana's EUROPA is inspired and right on the mark, with the flugel horn utilized as an expressive voice. Yet this set doesn't shout at you; it's a gentle and relaxing excursion into the soul of a committed musician."
