Description
"Of Saints and Angels" is a project of true love. It is an expression of the love that God has for his people. It is a love that challenges the listener to respond. George Lower's orginal tunes capture the Spirit of the Living God in a way that is uncomplicated, yet, deeply spiritual. It is music that gets out of the way and lets the Spirit flow to that part of the soul where prayer becomes a two way communication.
The original music on this CD has been successfully used in a varitey of settings including: church services, weddings, spiritual retreats and for personal meditation. Inspiration for many of the songs happens during retreat times. George says, "During retreats I can connect with the Spirit in a way that is different from my private prayer. It involves the whole community that is engaged in prayer. The songs express a unique character that is a reflection of the people on retreat, but does not exclude others who listen." Perhaps this is best illustrated by track #3 "Shine Out." Originally written for a teen retreat, the song has become a regular standard at virtually all churches where George Lower has ministered.
"Breastplate of St. Patrick" and "Universal Prayer" illustrate George's ability to take inspiration from ancient sources. "Breastplate of St. Patrick" focuses on a prayer attributed to the the 4th. Century saint who is credited with converting Ireland to Christianity. Likewise, "Universal Prayer" is an excerpt of a much longer prayer written by Pope Clement XI in the 18th Century. Each prayer reflects the deep spirituality of our forebears. While each prayer was written at a specific time and place, the themes addressed are timeless.
