Description
Step back to the days of the great jazz singers that touched your heart and set you feet Dr. Maurice Coyle, longtime Alaska resident and Providence hospital doctor offered his interpretation of these songs. Maury grew up in a house filled with music and respect for the singers tradition. His father, as a dental student, once missed an audition as a singer in the Tommy Dorsey Band because of an attack of appendicitis. Maury reveals his fascination and love for this music by sharing both well-known songs and some nearly forgotten ones that will be sure to bring a smile to the faces and hearts of all listeners moving.
Remember when you held your lover close and slowly danced to songs of style and substance. The melodies poured out like warm velvet and the lyrics went straight to our soul. This is the music of the heart.
Dr Maurice Coyle brings those songs to life with a sensitive ear and a rich smooth voice. Wonderfully realized with vocal arrangements by Peggy Monaghan, piano and trio arrangements by Tom Bargelski, and Bid Band arrangements by Kerry Maule, this CD succeeds in presenting these classic songs in a thoroughly contemporary style.
For the people who will hear these tunes for the first time, they represent the golden age of song writing. These songs were created in a time when the words were paramount, followed closely by and unforgettable and moving melody. Songs were intended to transport the listener to new places and take them away for the concerns of everyday life. In our modern times, these ballads may well be "Just What the Doctor Ordered"
