Description
As the love child of Sarah McLachlan and Melissa Etheridge, Rana fills her voice and guitar with percussive rhythms and reflective soul. The music is heavy with familiarity, the honesty rare to the ears. Based in the metro DC area, Rana's intimate lyrics and acoustic pop sensibility have entertained audiences from cafs to concert halls.
With her 2000 release, Starfishing, Rana (pronounced Rah-na) turned a weekend of recording with musicians she just met into a collection rock and lullabies. By aligning with such talents as Geoffrey Morris on electric guitar, Mark Pucci on bass and Rikki Bates on drums, Rana etched new details into tracks while maintaining the intimacy of her voice and guitar.
Whether driving with the windows down, or disappearing into each other as the candles burn slow, or sitting on the porch musing about time, Rana has offered up a song to carry us kindly through. We dream wild as she performs the journey we are all on.
"I love the CD." said Cat, Music Director at Cape 104.7 FM. "Anyone who can attract this kind of talent to play with her has got something going on."
"A couple of our DJs have already found Rana in our stacks and I hear her over our sweet airwaves. I bet Gramma's eating humble pie."
- Diana Fabbri, Station Manager, WOMR-FM 92.1
Diana is referring to the liner notes, which in part read: "This album is dedicated to my Gramma, who said I couldn't sing as a kid."
