Description
"The Big TakeOver" magazine- 2003
This CD brings back memories of when I was 15. I had a crush on my internet friend from Paris (with an incredibly deep, accented voice, sigh) and I was listening to Tool. This is Tool fronted by a singer with an obvious French accent: "I sail along whirrrling weends towarrrds ze centerrr of ze zpinning wheeeel." Though there are some new wave and electronic elements, they were sadly buried under the progressive metallic riffing and drumming, but nevertheless managed to add to the dark, swampy mood."
"Symbolic Sound" website - 2002
Powerful and uncompromising in their lyrics, Deovolente's musical style could be described as a form of heavy metal, progressive rock, experimental electronic, new wave alternative rock.
##########################################################
Deovolente mixes heavy metal, progressive rock, experimental electronic, and new wave. It is evident that psychology and symbology are influential on the lyrics; yet despite multiple influences Deovolente maintains the rather general categorization of alternative rock.
Deovolente started out as a recording project for Chris Chillier (Quiet Time, Doghead) and Cliff White (Naked Vanilla, Piston, Meteorites). Upon completion of the second CD, Mike Travis (Naked Vanilla, Meteorites, Piston) and Eric Vasquez (Meteorites, Cesna) were recruited to form a live band.
