Description
Pittsburgh Magazine says:
"Used," the title song from Brad Yoder's new CD, is the best song I've heard all summer. This latest disc from the prolific Yoder is a departure in that he uses a full band to bring out the best in what is a great collection of songs. Recorded over the course of 3 years, Used sounds it, with intricate headphone-ready arrangements replete with horns, strings and keys, and Yoder's witty, insightful, melodic songwriting. It's an outstanding aural experience that I can't get out of my head. I've never felt so good being used! -- Philip Harris, 8/2002
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brad's long-threatened "louder, pop-rock record," Used was released to uniform accolades in the local Pittsburgh press--the Pittsburgh City Paper asserted that "there's a perfection to Used... it sounds grand," and the Post-Gazette declared "It does sound good, but it's the writing here that really grabs you." Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Brad Yoder started recording "Used" all the way back in December, 1999, cutting basic drum & bass tracks at Mr. Small's Funhouse in Millvale, Pennsylvania. Thus began a long, winding odyssey, culminating in the mixing of the disc in October, 2001, and it's final release in May, 2002. Most of the overdubbed vocals, electric guitars, keyboards, and percussion were recorded in Brad's 3rd-floor apartment in Pittsburgh with the able help of master engineer Peter Beckerman (Skatalites, Sonic Youth, Jim Hall, etc.) Mastering was covered by Scott Hull of Classic Sound, NYC (Nelly Furtado, Garbage.)
