Description
The Band:
A la carte...a la mode ... "Ala Zingara" is derived from the music term a la zingara which means "in a gypsy style." Hence the band's music carries this vibe with a rich "alternative" array of Gypsy/Mediterranean blends -- voiced on, bouzoukis, strings, upright bass, accordion, guitar, percussion and drums.
Heavy grooves are played, providing a danceable ambiance that might inspire one to the yell "Hey!" and kick over tables ... or dance on them. One reviewer likened the sound to "a wonderful new taste of food like nothing I've ever heard." The troupe has been together for four years creating a diversified sound; once in a while leaning toward bossa nova, Celtic, spirituals, and ... well, it's always a surprise.
They are in studio with their next project including electric guitars and a generally more aggressive flavor. Stay tuned!
