Description
"Singin" is exactly that. It's what Bill Small does best. This collection of songs dates back to a fertile writing period when Bill was collaborating with Ben White and Bryan Keeling in a band called Stringbones in Austin, TX. Some of these songs can be found on a previous CD recorded by that band.
"This was a record that had to get made. It had been in my head too long", said Bill. And with the help of longtime Austin producers/engineers Andy Murphy and Mark McQuilken, they got it done. A cast of great musicians, Chris Gage, Brannen Temple, Courtney Audain, David Pulkingham, Kira Small, Donna McElroy, Ben White, Bryan Keeling and Felix Hendrickson came together in several sessions over 3 years in Austin and even Boston to surround Bill's guitar and voice with their love and talent. The love and care that went into this CD are apparent.
From the first note of "Til It Hurts" to the last line of gospel choir fire in the title track, "Singin" delivers an honest look at an emerging artist. Listen to it again and again. Let it cast it's spell. It will if you let it. Enjoy the ride.
