Description
The ADVENTURES IN JAZZ ORCHESTRA is composed of New York City theater and recording musicians, alumni of many of the big name jazz bands including Woody Herman, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Johnny Richards, and Jerry Mulligan. Great soloists on the Cd include Ed Xiques (alto sax), Scott Whitfield (trombone), Greg Gisbert (trumpet), and Barry Blumenthal (piano).
Ted Blumenthal is a former lead trombonist with the orchestras of Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Buddy Morrow, Woody Herman, and others. After his stint on the road with bands, Ted moved to New York City where he played numerous Broadway musicals, backed singers like Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, Vic Damone, Tone Bennett, and Billy Eckstein, and subbed in the Merv Griffen TV show orchestra.
