Description
Bob Russell's music has been described as sounding like Jeff Beck, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Larry Carlton, and Jim Hall.
Obviously, that's impossible.
But it does sound like Bob Russell. A guitarist for forty years, Russell has heard and admired a lot of guitar playing on both jazz and rock fronts. The music on Watch This! reflects that diversity. Clear, singing jazz sounds, warm nylon-string acoustic guitar work, high-gain rock tones - all these elements are present. The music is harmonically quite rich at times, but no "concept" is ever allowed to take precedence over the songs themselves.
Is it jazz? Is it rock? Fusion?
