Description
27 year old Dan Walzer is a seasoned jazz percussionist currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. He's been a professional musician for nearly ten years and has performed, recorded and/or shared the stage with such artists as Joshua Redman, Rob Fetters (Adrian Belew, Psychodots, The Bears) Frank Vignola, Curtis Fuller, Daryl Stuermer, Greg Howard, Ric Hordinski, Manhattan Transfer, The Guess Who, Fred Hersch, Pharez Whited, Brad Goode, Jeff Halsey and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, among others.
Walzer's primary teachers have included Marc Wolfley, Rusty Burge, John Von Ohlen, Brad Goode, Gerald Cleaver, Steve Barnes, Dr. Roger Schupp, Eric Sooy, Scott Lang and Erwin Stuckey. Walzer has pursued additional studies with Rich Redmond, Kenny Werner, Steve Houghton and others.
As a session musician Walzer's playing can be heard on Sound Press Records, Albany Records, House of Jordan, Northern Aggression Records, IoPA and his own Essence of Now Records. His discography includes nearly twenty albums, and two motion picture soundtracks that have garnered enthusiastic reviews and national radio airplay.
Walzer has also performed on national jingles for Kroger's, Closson's Furniture, Hasbro Toys, US Savings Bank and others and has toured the United States as a sideman. In 2002 Walzer assisted with the music production for the short film Invisible Me.
Mr. Walzer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Jazz Studies. Walzer maintains a private teaching studio and continues to perform and record around the Cincinnati area.
