Description
Echo Of Souls is a Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area based hard rock band. Formed in the spring of 2003 as Echo Of Souls, the band added to its core members (Alex Friedrich - Drums, Aaron Leigh - Bass, and Ron Wright - Vocals) the extraordinary skills and talents of guitarists Tim Breen and Stef Beddeson -- bookends to complete Echo Of Souls: Volume I, if you will. Tim and Stef complete the band with their own specific style and influence; guitar rich, harmonic melodies, and heavy rock tonalities. Though a new band in all respects, each member can trace deep rooted friendships through previous band relationships, and even high school classmates for a couple, in the case of Alex and Stef.
The seasoned compliment of individual talent is what immediately sets Echo Of Souls apart from a lot of their contemporaries; at an un-signed or even independent level. The band is simply 5 guys doing what doing they do best together; each of them playing to the others level. The end result is a lush sound with original style. From the first note of music, first vocal and chorus hit, and through to the eventual "soon-to-be favorites", the first impression you get from Echo Of Souls, invariably, has to be "Who are these guys?" There's an undeniable feel to the music that perhaps what your hearing might be something different, maybe even something special. Their cover of the 1980 Peter Gabriel hit Games Without Frontiers is likely to be a hit for them as well -- ultimately getting the initial recognition their looking for.
Excited about the release of their first self-produced album, entitled Echo Of Souls, the band is actively filling the calendar with regional shows and planning tour dates. They anticipate a full schedule for the remainder of 2005. "We've given a lot of blood to the production of this disc in the past year. We're definitely at a point where we just want to be a live band again -- play, perform, and just be the music," says Ron Wright, Echo Of Souls vocalist. "Albums are great and we're really proud of this one. We captured everything we wanted to in the studio on this thing. At some point though, you've got to finish the chapter and move on with the story. We're excited about what's coming next."
In trying to do nothing more than sound like the best version of themselves, Echo Of Souls achieves what many musicians aspire to their whole careers; originality. You'll hear the influences and take notice of what will become familiar melodies, but that's where similarity to rock and roll's past, present, and fallen heroes' ends. There's no question that there is something special about Echo Of Souls; their brand of music, a true reflection of who they are -- indeed, an Echo Of Souls, and a very refreshing approach to the straight ahead, heavy hard rock genre.
