Description
Volume Two of The Progress Trilogy, The Wastrel's Progress continues the format of combining re-mastered historical reel-to-reel home recordings of well-known and not-so-well-known material of other songwriters with modern studio-produced tracks of original material. Here's what the Wastrel has observed:
"If life is a chess match with no adversary, some portion of the game must be dedicated to recognizing the board and identifying the pieces. This accomplished, the intricate agon of advancing all pieces may begin, though many will be found well in progress. New pieces may appear to replace others, and some may disappear altogether, but the surface is fixed. Some skilled and/or lucky few may achieve the goal, while some may never notice there is a contest or rules. The player who falls by the way may be a victim of the desire to bring no pain to the board, thereby assuring his own suffering and defeating his purpose. But sadness is not madness and patience is not just waiting. The lessons of profligacy are rooted in kindness; learning to love is learning to leave while moving forward. Life has gotten serious for our Wastrel. He has missed chances, caught glances, felt ready, and left his best hands undrawn. His heart is whole, but he is still learning to follow what he can't see. Stay tuned."
