Description
dan mackenzie is a singer/songwriter/composer/producer/writer/actor (and overall dilettante) who, hailing originally from New York, has been living in Los Angeles for the past decade. besides producing his own new tunes and playing gigs locally, mackenzie also writes and produces songs for a few other indie artists and occasionally creates soundtracks for film and television.
dan plays many of the instruments on his records (acoustic and electric guitars, wurlizter electric piano, electronic keyboards, clarinet, bass guitar and harmonica, to name a few) but is always eager to enlist the talents of a guest cellist, drummer or trumpeteer when he wants to reach beyond the limits of his own musical abilities.
mackenzie lived in Europe for six years when he was growing up, went to high school in suburban New York and then got a bachelor's degree in music from Brown University. although he has never been signed to a record label of any sort, dan is now beginning to look around for a "deal" of some sort while continuing to produce and distribute his recordings independently.
mackenzie is currently working on a quick follow-up to the presently available "good things" - a new EP written and produced in what he calls "a more organic, intimate and eclectic" style. the as yet untitled work will be available at this website in late March.
