Description
Born the son of a preacher,Wes Homner has always had a deep love for Gospel music. Although his roots are in Bluegrass and southern harmony church singing, he has been an admirer of all 'heartfelt' music.
Wes has received much acclaim for his songwriting, being the 1995 & 1998 International Country Gospel Music Association 'Bluegrass Artist' recipient. Wes has also been awarded the ICGMA 'Bluegrass Performer' Gold Cross award held at Mesquite, Texas on March 20, 1999. His songs have been recorded by Doyle Lawson, The Lewis Family, Southern Rail, The Journeymen, The Bradleys, The Sitze Family and many more Bluegrass & Gospel artists.
The Sitze Family's recording of Wes's "Leading Me Home" had been #1 on the Bluegrass Now gospel charts for over a month 1nyear 2000. He continues to perform and record new projects. Wes is also an accomplished electric guitar player and respects the traditionalists which helped him develop his style.
There is no pretense here, and Wes does not like to be 'pigeon holed' into any one particular genre. He feels just as comfortable doing an old hymn of the church as he does a high spirited bluegrass song. Wes sings lead vocal & plays guitar, mandolin, and some keybord & bass on his projects. He is accompanied by a host of his friends on background vocals and instrumentation.
