Description
Linnane
Peter Linnane is a producer and engineer at Boston's Zippah Recording. He is a member of Rykodisc's Willard Grant Conspiracy and has played as a studio musician on many recordings including Peter Bruntnell, Don Lennon, The Sheila Divine and The Weisstronauts.
Peter met Samantha while working on his own project - The Shady Tree recordings. Samantha was at the studio recording with The Oscillators, a New Hampshire band on the Stereoriffic label. Soon afterward, the two of them began playing and singing as a duo while continuing their work on the album. Linnane's independently produced debut album took four years to complete.
The Shady Tree is a melodic album with elements of Americana and pop. Peter and Samantha's inspired harmonies are supported by conventional instrumentation as well as pump organs, concertinas and banjos. The songs range in mood , trading off modes from minor to major. The lyrics also range in mood, dealing with love, death, nature and heartbreak, condensing thought and emotion into relatable simplicity.
Linnane's music has been compared to such artists as the late 60's Rolling Stones, The Jayhawks, Neil Young and Sixteen Horsepower.
