SUMMARY
The 1985 Musician's Institute graduate launched his career in Los Angeles as a guitar teacher. Less than four years after arriving in California, Capital recording artists, Megadeth, discovered Jeff's virtuosic abilities. Stepping into an unfamiliar genre, Jeff received high acclaim as lead guitarist for the recording and tour support of Megdeth's 1988 platinum selling album, So Far, So Good...So What!
Following his 'life-in-deth' experience, Jeff began penning the eclectic cult favorite Fingerprints column for Guitar magazine. For a portion of the 90s, Jeff stepped away from the spotlight to deal with the untimely deaths of first his father and later his mother while deeply immersing himself in the further study of classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz and other world music varieties. In 1998, he resurfaced with surprising new Brazilian musical partner, Badi Assad.
Together, the duo crafted exotic soundscapes for their first acclaimed collaboration entitled, Badi Assad - Chameleon. The album (co-written, arranged, and produced by Jeff), climbed to #1 in Europe while diligent touring introduced their transcendent acoustic-world-fusion sounds to diverse audiences worldwide. Opening concerts for renowned artists including Joe Cocker, jazz diva Cassandra Wilson, as well as highlight performances on 1999's Lilith Fair and Farm Aid 2000 are testament to the considerable cross-over appeal of Badi & Jeff's "new world" music explorations. In 2003, the track "Waves" from Chameleon was prominently featured in the Michael and Kirk Douglas film, It Runs in the Family as well as on the movie's soundtrack.

MOST INFLUENTIAL - PAST
"I'm pleased to report that the first album my parents ever gave me was by The Beatles. I've always listened to and enjoyed all styles of music... it was Nancy Wilson's acoustic prelude to "Crazy on You" that inspired me to play guitar. By age 16, I bought my first classical album, John Williams - Echoes of Spain."
Early guitar mentors: Edward Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Randy Rhoads, Steve Howe, George Benson
MOST INFLUENTIAL - PRESENT
"I've always felt that Paco de Lucia was the king... 6 years ago I began to study flamenco which opened my ears to a new world of exciting music including Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, an obscure guitarist named Manitas de Plata and a plethora of other gifted artists from Spain. While playing with Badi Assad, I was introduced to many amazing Brazilian artists including guitarists Raphael Rabello, Egberto Gismonte, her brothers Sergio & Odair Assad as well as singer-songwriter Lenine and the experimental instrumental group, Uakti. I also listen to a lot of Django Reinhart, Jeff Buckley, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Shawn Lane, Bob Marley, Tori Amos, Bjork, Seal, Michael Hedges, Bireli Lagrene, Lenny Breau, and of course, Miles Davis."
