Description
"Jennifer Nash's brand of pop, rock, jazz and cabaret flawlessly fuses to create what is truly original alternative music. A stunning accomplishment by a gifted artist, Nash's material has as many nods to Josh Groban as it does to Tori Amos. Her songs are never boring, much less predictable; instead, they courageously explore new territory that often surprise the listener.
To execute this unique approach to music composition, Nash assembled a pro group of players. With exotic strains of Measham's cello and Malpede's luscious keyboard work, each song has a signature sound. Nash has the ability to combine styles as she sings, projecting near-operatic pitches and then nicely making a transition to falsetto with a rock edge. When Nash sits at the piano, she transforms into an intimate songstress with engaging results that keep the crowd captivated. A beautiful young nymph, Nash also projected a vulnerability that made everything she did endearing.
Jennifer Nash is one of a kind. An artist of immense talent and vision, she will cleanse your musical palate. Her ingenious combination of styles and genres, from show tunes to soulful ballads, creates an unforgettable experience. She is an artist with an inspired imagination, and [her album is] for anyone who might appreciate a new musical attack"
- Bernard Baur, Music Connection Magazine
Jennifer Nash is a young woman with a sexy, powerful voice and killer songs. She plays piano and accordion.
Jennifer started playing the piano at age 12, teaching herself Chopin Waltzes on a 90 year-old upright purchased for her by a friend. Adored Julie Andrews, Astor Piazzola, Pink Floyd, and Oingo Boingo.
After seeing the film "Nightmare Before Christmas" she moved to LA to pusue a carrer in film composing. She found a very intense day job in film music editing, working on Hollywood films such as Pearl Harbor and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It helped her music; she realized film composing could wait now that she owned her own digital multitrack recording studio and had the means with which to make an album of her own songs.
Jennifer started producion on her debut CD and formed a band. She has worked her way into the highly competitive LA music scene, selling 20 CDs to small crowds who see her for the first time. Her riveting performances have earned her praise from the LA Times, LA Weekly, and Music Connection. In May she was nominated by LA Weekly as best new artist for 2003.
