Miami Relatives
Alt-rock from the heart of New York City's East Village, they'll bludgeon you with guitars, but are not afraid to bring it down for whispers; weaned on the pixies, television, led zeppelin ...

Description
Singer and guitarist Jon Darling, and bassist/producer Ken Rich toured together as a part of another rock band three years ago and upon discovering a huge common ground of musical influences, promptly began writing and recording. When they discovered that two of their favorite musicians, Dan Rieser from Marcy Playground, and Jon Andrews from Frankenorange were emerging from life on the road, Miami Relatives was formed. As a four piece Miami Relatives has been performing in New York to increasingly larger audiences and has become a staple in the emerging East Village rock scene.
Primarily a guitar band, the Relatives produce soaring melodies and intertwining harmonies, which serve as a foundation for their ambitious songwriting. The band is set strongly in the alternative rock category while keeping a pop sensibility. The Relatives CD explores creative directions in music, sound, and alternate ways of producing great Rock & Roll without a large budget.
We all know of the recent struggles of musicians and record companies. Miami Relatives has managed to thrive and create great music in the face of this trying period in the music industry. While we believe it's important to become exposed to new music, it's also important to support the artists that create it. So buy the freakin' thing, please. We need a van.
