Description
"Thought-provoking" and "a painter with words and music" are how Cherokee singer/songwriter Michael Jacobs and his music have been described. Fusing contemporary and traditional sounds, and filled with powerful imagery, his songs are stories of the past, present, and the future - of life, love, hope, and heartache. While written to Native America, the themes also resonate within the hearts of everyone.
Michael's not just an entertainer, he's an artist with a deeper purpose. By connecting us with the virtues of our cultures and drawing our hearts in love to Creator and one another, he seeks to impact Indian country and the world in a positive way.
His debut solo CD, Sacred Nation, received the 2003 Native American Music Award for Best Independent Recording. His remarkable follow-up recording, They Come Dancing, was nominated for a 2004 Nammy. Michael's also a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Already an accomplished guitarist and singer, Michael also plays Native flute, harmonica, percussion and co-produces his CDs. But writing powerful songs remains his passion and primary focus.
