Description
The Boston Herald describes Jud Caswell as "one of those expert, multigifted folk singers who are surprisingly unknown outside their home territory."
Caswell has been a performing musician all his life. He studied bassoon and saxophone before settling into acoustic guitar as his primary instrument. He has a music degree from Dartmouth College
Since the release of his latest CD, "Lost & Found," in January, Caswell has won the Rose Garden Coffeehouse Performing Songwriter Competition in Mansfield, MA, and been selected as a finalist in the Road Song Contest of the Philadelphia Songwriters Project.
"Lost & Found" was also selected as a "Top 5 for April 2004" pick by Boston's Metronome Magazine, which said "Caswell is a superb acoustic fingerpicking style guitarist... these compositions soar... Expect Caswell and his music to grow in stature with every listen of this CD."
Caswell lives in Brunswick, ME.

Kennebec Journal:
"This 13-song album is loaded with quite an interesting array of characters served up by Caswell's oh-so-smooth vocal styling. When he growls out "Stocks" for example, the central figure conjures up images of the Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" or Marillion's "Uninvited Guest," while on "Richard" the narrator softly speaks of a friend's pain. These observations, presented honestly, draw the listener into the stories - once there, one gladly surrenders to Caswell's rich and vivid sonic images."
"With the plethora of singer-songwriters out there, it takes a distinctive voice and material to stand out, and this Brunswick resident has both."
