Description
THE LIMITS, one of Eastern Pennsylvania's first garage/Brit influenced bands, sprang up in Allentown, Pa, in late 1964. The Lehigh Valley area was an amazing collective of musicians, teen clubs, radio DJ's, friends and fans. Along with THE LIMITS, bands like Kings Ransom, Squires, Shillings, Uproar, and national hitmakers JAY & the Techniques all enjoyed varying success, and played regularly at under 21 clubs such as The Purple Owl, The Mad Hatter, The Mod Mill, and King Arthur's Court. The raw, passionate songs on this early LIMITS collection show a love for pop, R&B, as well as party and garage rock. The later original songs display sophistication and craftsmanship. The band is comprised of Beau, Rook, and Chris Jones, Irwin Goldberg, Ned Earley, and Rick Levy. Rick Levy (guitarist, vocals) has gone on to perform with Herman's Hermits, Tommy Roe, Jay & the TEchniques, Freddy Cannon and other 60's legends.
This amazing collection is a precursor to the highly acclaimed 2003 release of SONGS ABOUT GIRLS..The Limits at the height of their musical maturity.
So shake a tail feather, borrow dad's car and dig the band that Alex Chilton (Box Tops, Big Star) calls..."the quintessential American garage band..both preposterous and sublime."
