Description
The debut album from the infamous MABEL DAWN DAVIS, winner of the Melbourne Fringe Festival Cabaret Award -- and a creation of of award-winning gay male jazz singer, Deian McBryde.
Mabel Dawn Davis left home in August of 1987, headed for fortune and fame and marriage to a hot saxophonist living in Paris. After fifteen devoted years, two children and countless nights in smoke-filled, fashionable French nightclubs, the son-of-a-bitch left her. Now she's telling her story to the world. This'll be good.
Recorded "live" in one day while on tour in Melbourne, Australia. Jazz, blues, pop/rock, standards and new songs. With Adam Simmons (saxophones), Will Poskitt (piano), Mark Shepherd (bass) and Matt Earl (drums). This is the music from the award-winning show, "Mabel Dawn Davis: Woman on the Stage" at the famed La Mama Theatre in Melbourne. Co-producers Deian McBryde and Adam Simmons received an Australian Green Room Award for musical direction for the music from this hot album.
Mabel Dawn currently holds forth at New York's O.W. Bar where she hosts a calvacade of jazz talent. www.owbar.com
